NONSENSE (a mini workshop for photographers)

WHEN
May 30, 2015
3-Hour Workshop (9AM to 12PM)

WHERE
(Exact Location Announced to Registrants Only)
Salt Lake City, Utah

$60 Per Person
Limited to 4 photographers

WHAT ARE WE DOING?
Learning to use nonsense as a way to find inspiration anywhere and tell a story through images. You'll perfect this skill during your own photo shoot with a professional model!

When you leave this workshop I want you to feel more confident in your ability to harness inspiration to tell a photographic story in a way that is meaningful and personal to you.

PARTICIPANT EXPERIENCE LEVEL
All participants should understand the basic functions of their DSLR camera. We'll focus more on telling a story through images rather than what kind of camera you use.

MODELS
Model(s) will have a signed model release form giving you permission to use them in your images. A copy of the model release form, signed, will be provided to everyone during or after the workshop. The unique images you capture at the workshop are yours to do with as you please, including but not limited to publishing and exhibiting.

EQUIPMENT
I recommend you bring the following items with you:

  • Camera and fully charged battery
  • Tripod (especially if merging multiple images together is something you want to try)
  • Memory card
  • Lenses (whatever you have)
  • Flashes, reflectors, etc. (anything you need to make images you're happy with)

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Must be 18 years or older to participate. Registration is first come, first served. If space remains you will be contacted by email and non-refundable workshop fee of $60 due upon receipt. If no space remains, you will be placed on the waiting list in the order you requested registration. Registration not complete until invoice is paid.

Wendy Hurst reserves the right to cancel the event up to one day prior to workshop for any reason. If the event is cancelled the registration fee will be refunded less PayPal fees if applicable. The Lonely Flower, with Kollene Snow | Salt Lake Conceptual Portrait Photographer

I wanted this photo shoot with Kollene Snow to illustrate that idea. Like a lonely flower that blooms, sometimes unexpected ideas lead the way to the next one. "I am no bird; no net ensnares me." I also remembered a behind the scenes YouTube video by fashion photographer Joan Allen that I found by accident years ago of a shoot using calligraphy on the skin to add a dimension of edgy elegance. Combine that with a kick I've been on about oversized objects and I knew what I wanted to do.  Months ago I draped my dress form, Maggie, with yards of purple cloth I picked up secondhand for a different photo shoot. The shoot turned out okay but didn't fully captured the potential I saw in that &quo
