Woman in the Woods, with Courtney Kurns | salt lake conceptual portrait photographer

"Woman in the Woods" There is risk in artistic freedom. What if someone doesn't like the final image? Or worse, what will you create next ? It's a daunting task dreaming of something out of nothing, every day, to feel creatively satisfied. Sometimes I just want to exist in a creative space, and that's what Courtney Kurns helped me do. How We Did It: Woman in the Woods

Click here to see all the images from our shoot. Every day is a good day to wear a cloak in the woods. It's strange wandering through a rain-soaked clearing in the wilderness as rain drizzles on damp leaves and the sun shines at one's back. It's even stranger stepping into calf-deep snow when it's hardly cold outside. The weather on the Wasatch Front is funny like that, but what a cool environment to create in! There aren't really any fancy tricks to this one. Courtney's (the model) husband stood just out of frame and tossed the end of the cloak up into the air as many times as it took to get this shot. Getting a cloak to hang in the air like this isn't hard, but it's certainly unpredictable...   Click here to see all the images from our shoot.

"Disappearing" | salt lake conceptual portrait photographer

"Disappearing" This morning I was casually browsing new photo editing techniques to add to my arsenal. I didn't learn much because I got completely distracted by the inspiration I gleaned. My sisters-in-law helped me explore the idea: what would it be like to slowly disappear...?  "Disappearing"
