The idea for this series came from this winter on the Wasatch Front here in Utah. I wanted to illustrate a story about a blossom waiting for the world around her to wake up, and having only a handful of snowstorms this year meant I could run outside in my socks during January and stand in a park where three seasons seemed to exist simultaneously during March: winter, spring, and summer. Maybe I'll add to this series next fall...

Design Notes

  • The robe and dress are just a long cuts of fabric I found at a thrift shop.
  • If you didn't notice at first, the series starts gloomy and desaturated. The more life grows around her, the more vibrant and beautiful the bloom (that is, the beautiful Loralee) becomes.
