Superheroes at FanX SLC Comicon 2019

Joker at FanX SLC Comicon 2019.
I know he's not a superhero but it's the closest I got to meeting a Batman this year. ;)

Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins made me fall in love with superheroes. It was dark, it was haunting, and the character became so compelling I wanted to suspend reality just enough to make the character and story feel real just so I could meet the guy. Here's a peek at some of the superheroes I met at Salt Lake City's FanX event (a local flavor of Comicon)--and a here's a link to see the whole gallery of portraits I captured in the hallway! I wonder if my wagon could wheel in a small rug to really disguise the flooring next time... ;)

I know he's not a superhero too, but...Batman.

Green Lantern at FanX SLC Comicon 2019

Star Lord at FanX SLC Comicon 2019

Spiderman at FanX SLC Comicon 2019.
Tom Holland was a celebrity guest this year so I like to think it could've been him in disguise. ;)

Captain America (goddess form) at FanX SLC Comicon 2019. Check out that purple-striped victory roll!

Deadpool at FanX SLC Comicon 2019

Lara Croft at FanX SLC Comicon 2019.
I realize she's not technically a superhero...but I wanted to add her anyway. Look at that makeup!

The Lonely Flower, with Kollene Snow | Salt Lake Conceptual Portrait Photographer

Have you ever been stuck trying think of an idea, and then all of a sudden a tiny, fragile glimpse of something appears? In those moments I just want to grab it and hold on so it can't get away, but if you don't let it breathe, that poor little idea gets squished. I wanted this photo shoot with Kollene Snow to illustrate that idea. Like a lonely flower that blooms, sometimes unexpected ideas lead the way to the next one. I am no bird | salt lake city utah conceptual portrait photographer

Doing so lends inspiration and  actually yields titles that resonate with me most often.  For this reason a quote from Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte recently stuck in my mind. "I am no bird; no net ensnares me." I also remembered a behind the scenes YouTube video by fashion photographer Joan Allen that I found by accident years ago of a shoot using calligraphy on the skin to add a dimension of edgy elegance.
